The Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series champions once again. They beat the Toronto Blue Jays in seven games to win the 2025 World Series, making it their second straight title and ninth in team history. The win sparked huge celebrations across the U.S. Going into the season the Dodgers were one of the favorites, and they lived up to it. After a strong regular season and a sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series (NLCS), they were locked in for another title run. The lineup was stacked, and the pitching rotation carried the team through close games all postseason.
One of the biggest games was game three as it lasted eighteen innings, and it went on until 1 a.m. PST in the morning. First baseman for the Dodgers, Freddie Freeman, walked it off with a home-run to center field. This put the Dodgers up 2-1 in the series. The Blue Jays and the Dodgers played 18 innings, and this made it tied for the longest world series game ever by innings. Despite playing for so long, both teams had a game roughly 17 hours away , having to sleep, and get their bodies prepared for the next game.
Game 7 was an all time classic. With the score tied 4-4 in the 11th inning, catcher Will Smith hit a go-ahead home run that sent Dodger Stadium into a frenzy. In the bottom of the inning, ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto came in to finish the job, after pitching 96 pitches the night before in game 6. He was named World Series MVP after a dominant postseason pitching performance that showed why he’s one of the best in baseball.
Watching this year’s World Series reminded fans why sports matter. Both teams fought hard every inning and never gave up, even when the games seemed never ending. Both teams showed skill, and endless effort until the very last pitch giving the audience a very entertaining World Series experience making it one of the best World Series of all time.
