Hit rapper J. Cole, known for creating his biggest album “Forest Hills Drive,” just released a new album called the Fall-off. It was released on February 6th.
This album has been long awaited by fans and simple rap listeners. The album was teased many times in his other album he made before this “KOD” and he has made many other references to this album.
On its first week of release critics like the Rollingstone and the Harvard Crimson have described it to be “A super star showing his flawed glory.” They also describe how in some of the tracks it goes over his rap career as a self reflection of sorts. His most notable track according to The Harvard Crimson is the song “Safety,” where he talks about one of his friends when he was younger that struggled with homophobia within his own friend group. They describe the song as polarizing and emotional.
Overall the Rollingstone critics end up giving the album a rating of 3.5 out of 5. The critics also call it a premature retirement as this is his last album. They express that it was overwhelming for a retiring album and most fans seem to be very mixed on the album.
But it’s clearly a hit despite its critics and ratings as it made it to the top 30 on charts with over 280 thousand in album sales sold on its first week according to Billboard 200. In conclusion J. Cole’s album is clearly a success for his last album he’s claiming to be releasing.
