HC is being rebuilt after generations of Blue Devils that have learned within the current building. Construction for the new building began in the summer of 2025, and is scheduled for completion by the fall of 2028, making the first graduating class this year’s current freshmen. This construction will enhance the learning environment through nicer classrooms, updated sports facilities, and brand-new utilities.
A major issue with construction was parking availability for students, staff, and visitors. The current senior parking lot is the only option for students, and only select seniors get to park there because there still isn’t enough parking space for every senior. Administration selected random seniors through a lottery to get a parking space, so each decision was made equally. If students do not attend enough school, their parking space will be taken away from them. Many seniors had to come up with alternative rides to and from school because of this.
Traffic was another issue caused by construction, especially when students are arriving at school and leaving. At the beginning of the year, traffic affected students and staff, especially when they weren’t expecting it. The first week of school was eye-opening, and no one expected traffic to be as extreme as it was. Now, students have figured out what works for them to get to school on time, and even though traffic hasn’t slowed down much, it is more manageable.
The advancements that HC’s new building will have will help students thrive in many different ways. For example, HC’s football team will have an indoor turf area for practice, and the classrooms will be modernized with many technological advancements. Students are excited to see the future of HC, and to get to learn more information about our new school.
Though the transitioning plans may be difficult, students are eager to begin learning in a new school in a few years. These new facilities will feature HC as a new, updated school that students enjoy attending!
