Senior Class President Amarie Coleman has continued to make a positive impact throughout this school year. Coleman’s involvement in the National Honor Society and Beta Club showcases her commitment to scholarships, while maintaining a 4.0+ GPA. Beyond academics, Coleman is an athlete and an active participant in extracurriculars and clubs proving her ability to balance multiple commitments. This role is a daily commitment to representing and supporting her peers, a responsibility she is ready for and has a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives around her.
“I got nominated and then voted [for] by my [fellow seniors],” Coleman said. “I wanted to make sure everyone in our class felt included and actually enjoyed senior year. The main goal was to allow room for seniors [to have suggestions] in anything I’m doing: every decision was for [the betterment of HC].”
On day one, Coleman focused on making HC a fun and educational environment for everyone. Her main goal is for everyone to be heard and to make their ideas known to HC administration.
“Sometimes it’s little things like theme ideas for spirit week,” Coleman said. “Other times it’s bigger conversations that students want changed or improved, like exemptions, graduation details, [or] prom ideas.”
The role comes with its challenges, like organizing major events while balancing a rigorous academic schedule.
“It definitely takes a lot of time management,” Coleman said. “I try to prioritize my responsibilities and stay organized, but I also remind myself [why I wanted to become senior class president]. This will help me prepare for my future.”
Despite the pressure, Coleman finds the experience rewarding, especially when classmates are happy. Building relationships and coming together has always been a top goal of HC, and Coleman thinks the atmosphere has improved.
As graduation is around the corner, Coleman hopes her impact will last beyond just this year.
“I absolutely wish all of you the best and hope that, whatever [your future holds] after we graduate, you succeed,” Coleman said.
Through dedication, resilience, patience, and passion, Coleman shows what it means to be senior class president and to leave a mark on the people around her.
