In the first episode, we get flashbacks to what the Pogues have been doing for the past year. With the money they got from the gold in El Dorado, they started to plan their future, until JJ spent almost all their funds on his fathers land. JJ’s decision puts them towards a future of debt.
In the second episode new characters Wes Generette and Chandler Groff are introduced. Generette gives the Pogues an offer to find Blackbeard’s amulet to save his life, as he is starting to see visions that his late daughter and grandson witnessed. However, returning character Tarrence and some of his friends are after this amuletas well.
In the third episode we find Wes Genrette dead. The Pogues, oblivious to what happened, went to his estate to find the sheriff there. The pogues are questioned about their dealings with Genrette, but were able to get out without casualties.
In the fourth episode tension rises between the Pogues and Kooks once again, as they run into each other at the beach during the year’s best swell. Pope decides to go decipher text that was found inside the amulet, but ends up saving Cleo as she was kidnapped by Tarrence and his friends.
Finally in the last episode, a sheriff shows up at the Pogue’s House in the midst of them trying to hide Tarrences dead body. During this time JJ is confronted about a threat he made on the beach, and receives a mysterious letter. JJ follows clues on the letter, and ends up finding his dad. Meanwhile John B, Sarah, Cleo, and Pope go to Charleston to follow more clues on Blackbeard’s treasure. As JJ and his dad run from the cops and reach the top of a lighthouse, his father reveals a secret. He is not his biological father.
This part of the season ends with the rattling truth of JJ learning that his real father is Chandler Groff, and his biological mom is dead. Fans learning this have left them stunned and creating theories as to what could’ve happened to the mom. Fans are left on a cliffhanger, anxiously awaiting part two.
