This week, HC Assistant Principal Cory Canter, went to tour the new building once again. On January 16, the whole administrative team went to tour the building for the first time. Since then, construction crews have been working hard to stay on track with the FCPS timeline.
“We got to see the construction progress,” said Canter. “There’s roofs on the indoor turf. There’s roofs on some of the interior hallways. The concrete will be laid and I hope everything gets roofed within the next three to four months.”
However this isn’t all that has been built, there was much more construction that had been done previously.
“So far, just of all the layout of the indoor turf facility, the layouts of area A, which is the first three level wing,” Canter said. “Nothing’s finished completely, but you’ve got all the concrete work done in those areas now they’re starting back towards that cafeteria.”
Even though the construction crews have been working tirelessly and making a lot of progress, there is still time before the school will be ready, however Canter suspects that its right on par with the district timeline of being done during the 2028 school year.
With the new building comes many new modern perks for students to enjoy.
“The building will be all modern,” Canter said. “It’ll have the most updated technology. The advancements for students in itself and the opportunities that the building will create will be limitless.”
Overall, Canter, administrative staff, and students are all excited to see what comes with the new building. As construction continues, staff will continue to visit and observe progress.
