Football season is upon us, is a prominent time of the year for school spirit- Homecoming. On Friday, September 9th at 7:30pm, there will be a home football game against Eastern High School. During half time, select HC students will be awarded Homecoming Prince and Princess by grade level and the Senior Court finalists will choose one King and Queen. The Homecoming dance is Saturday, September 10th from 8-11pm. Homecoming week also means Spirit Week, which started September 2th, and will end on that next Friday.

The theme of the Homecoming dance is a Masquerade Ball. Students attending are encouraged to wear a mask; some masks will be available, but it is suggested to bring your own. This is a semi-formal event, but students should still follow the HC dress code. The dance will be in the HC cafeteria, and students will enter through the small connector. Tickets are priced at $15 each, and will be sold in the front foyer, as well as in advisory by Student Council members. Outside guests are allowed to come to the HC Homecoming if they are under 20 years old, have a completed outside guest form, and have a copy of their drivers license.

Spirit week starts on Friday, September 2nd, with a theme of pajama day. The next Tuesday, September 6th, is Tropical Tuesday, where students will dress like they are going to the beach. On Wednesday, the theme is “On Wednesdays We Wear Pink”. Thursday is team day, where students will wear an outfit based on their favorite sports team. Friday, the theme is class colors with freshmen in white, sophomores in black, juniors in gold, and seniors in blue. Prizes will be given out to the best outfits, as well as the chance to win Homecoming tickets.

“Advisory classes will pick the best costume,” Student Council teacher representative Bridgetter Richmond said. “Winners will be requested to come to the front foyer at the end of the day for a school competition judged by Administration, followed by a group picture.”

In place of the normal pep rally, there will be a “send off” for the football team. The team will walk through the hallways as students and faculty cheer for them. They will be wished good luck and experience the Blue Devil Spirit before the big Homecoming game.
