Climate change has huge effects on the environment.

Climate change is a real thing in this world that affects people all over. In the twentieth century, the world’s temperature has risen by approximately two degrees Fahrenheit. This might not sound like a lot, but it has been shown that Earth’s temperature has been stable over long periods and the slightest shifts in temperature correspond with vast changes in the environment.

Many places all over the world are not equipped with the correct infrastructure to sustain all of the changes in the environment. One example of this would be Texas. Texas is not a state used to getting a lot of snow, so when it all came this winter, they were not prepared with the correct protection against the harsh weather. If people don’t take notice of what is happening in the world, then infrastructures will never be updated and this unpreparedness will happen in more and more locations.

The key thing scientists associate with the cause of climate change is the number of greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere. Human activities are changing the natural level of greenhouse gases. The burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, and land-use changes all account for an increase in carbon dioxide released into the air. A lot of agriculture is also associated with an increase of other greenhouse gases, such as methane and nitrous oxide. If nothing is done to stop the emission of greenhouse gases then climate change will increase more rapidly, causing larger changes in the environment.

Human activities greatly contribute to the greenhouse effect. People need to reduce their carbon footprint if they want to save their planet. Shopping locally can reduce pollution. Recycling helps reduce the amount of waste in landfills, which emit lots of methane into the atmosphere. Using reusable grocery bags helps reduce the amount of non-biodegradable plastic in the environment. Consuming less livestock-meat and dairy products- helps reduce the amount of methane put into the air from feed production and processing. Not buying fast fashion products also reduces a carbon footprint.

People need to understand that what they are doing has effects on the environment. Being environmentally friendly is a crucial thing in helping. Infrastructures all around need to be updated to accommodate the changing climate to keep people protected. If people continue to emit the same amount of greenhouse gases then the effects of climate change will continue to worsen. Climate change is real and will not end unless people do something. It is not an easy and fast process, but it is an important one.
