Taylor Swift’s new album “The Life of a Showgirl” was released on October 3, 2025. This is Swift’s 12th album and was secretly recorded while on the European leg of the Eras Tour in 2024. She announced the new album with her fiance, Travis Kelce, and future brother-in-law, Jason Kelce, on their podcast, “New Heights.” The album has 12 songs all with a genre of pop and/or soft rock.
The album has become controversial among her fans. Some really enjoy the relapse of the energy coming from her past albums like “1989” and “Reputation,” while others prefer the sound of “Tortured Poets Department” and “Midnights.” Despite opinions, this album has become extremely popular. Swift achieved her 15th No. 1 album on the Billboard Top 100, No. 1 Top Album Sales, and was the first album ever to place all of its songs from the No. 1 to No. 12 on Billboard’s Top 100.
“The Life of a Showgirl” is very different compared to Swift’s most recent albums. These songs have more of an upbeat and happy sound, while her others were more mellow and slow. The upbeat rhythm portrays Swift’s happiness in life at the moment. She got engaged on August 26 to Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce and now that she is off tour, she can spend more time with him and family. The song “Opalite” is Kelce’s birthstone and Swift wanted to directly incorporate him into the album.
On “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon,” Swift announced her film “Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl” which was in theaters October 3-5. The movie debuted behind the scenes of filming the music videos for the album and then showed the videos. Swift dominated the box office with $33 million worth of ticket sales in North America.
Earlier this week Swift announced “The Eras Tour | The Final Show” will be released on December 12 and can be streamed on Disney Plus. The show features six episodes showing behind the scenes views of the Eras Tour. It also features the entire Tortured Poets Department set, which was not all included in her Eras Tour movie.
Overall, Swift continues to wow fans with her steady continuation of successful albums.
