The weather is getting colder, and the leaves have started to fall. The month of October brings an abundance of events and activities. While there are always the pumpkin patch, Halloween, and the Starbucks fall menu, Lexington also offers some unique activities.
The main event of this month is always Halloween. Trick or Treating is expected to be on Friday, the 31st, from 6 to 8 p.m. Lexington is also hosting its annual thriller parade downtown from 4-9 p.m. There will be food and beverage vendors, with performances and a Thriller reenactment taking place.
For those who enjoy the spooky side of Halloween, Wicked World and Fright Nights have opened. Wicked World opens at 8 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to the public. They have also chosen to open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday leading up to Halloween. They have three different attractions at their park which will ensure a scare. However, the park will be shutting down soon after Halloween, with November 1st being its last night open. Fright Nights provides two different attractions at its locations in Lexington and Winchester. They are also open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 8 p.m., as well as on Thursday 30th. Their last day open will be November 2nd.
There are many pumpkin patches open around Lexington. Evans Orchard has always been popular with Lexington residents, with its location in Georgetown, KY. They offer a corn maze, apple picking, hay rides, a playground, and of course, a pumpkin patch. Another pumpkin patch close to Lexington is Eckert’s Orchard in Versailles, KY. They offer apple and pumpkin picking as well as a petting zoo during open hours and bonfires on Friday and Saturday nights.
The community centers around Lexington, such as Kenwick and William Wells Brown, also offer many planned events throughout this month. They have events such as Hallow-Palooza and Yappy-Hour: Howl-o-ween. All these events are open to the public, and details can be found on Lexington, KY’s website.
Overall, October is a month filled with things to do. Look around the community, and there may be special events within neighborhoods. This month brings in new ways to get involved and meet other people in Lexington.
