Henry Clay High School welcomes students back amidst construction and other changes

Another summer has come and gone and with that passing of time marks the annual return of students to the halls of Henry Clay High School.

On Wednesday, August 13th, 1,900+ students entered our building to begin another wonderful year at HCHS. Along with some new faces (9th grade students as well as transfers), students were met with a multitude of new laws and regulations, such as the mandatory moment of silence as well as the new cell phone policy (prohibiting their use during instructional time in the classroom).

While those changes have been occurring inside the classroom, there are also some on the outside…literally. For instance, construction for the new high school facility officially broke ground last spring and led to an entirely different traffic pattern for bus and car riders along with the loss of our beloved baseball/softball/soccer fields and former student parking lot/marching band practice area (both located directly outside of our gym).

Despite these changes, Blue Devils know a thing or two about perseverance and are still Determined, Engaged, Valued, Inspired, and are Leaders throughout the building…so here’s to another banner year for our historic and esteemed high school (the oldest, yet still the finest, in Lexington, KY).
