The first day of spring football was April 21st. About 50 students who were ready for the season began their first day getting used to the equipment and how things are going to run, and preparing for positions. For the players, it was a very good atmosphere, and Coach Hawkins took everything pretty slow and made sure all players understood the plan for training.
Training will have alternate days of conditioning and practice, with one day of offense and the next being defense—easing into positions and seeing where each player will fit.
During practice, players were split-up: running back, O-Line, and wide receivers. Every group practiced individually. Then, in the middle of practice, players will come together and run plays to learn as a whole. Then all the players will split one last time to learn plays, get comfortable with each other, and learn team chemistry.
But overall, spring practice is a great help to HC Football and great preparation for future seasons.
Looking forward to next season, HC’s first game is against North Oldham August 22. They are looking forward to working hard to get better and have a better record than last year.
