Team Enough is a club at HC that advocates against gun violence. As a new club, they have been planning on bigger changes and more advocations for the future. The club’s sponsor, Matthew Helton, and President Hegal Banjade, help explain the role they play and their hopes for the club’s growth.
“They deal with gun violence,” Helton said. “Too many shootings and also with the kids getting killed with weapons.”
With gun violence being a priority in the organization, campaigning for people who support these beliefs comes naturally.
“The first thing that was really important to the group was our campaigning,” Banjade said. “[Team Enough,] we campaigned officially for Randy Cravens.”
With the campaign for House Representative, Team Enough focused on groups that advocated for gun right laws and the focus on safety in schools.
“We got to meet different state senators and representatives,” Benjade said. “We made a lot of connections, which is really great.”
Team Enough is a nation-wide organization, but is quite limited within Kentucky.
“It’s in a lot of major cities and states,” Banjade said. “We’re hoping for it to expand to other schools [in Kentucky].”
With more plans for the future and a large group supporting them, Team Enough here at HC is on the path to making an impactful change.
