The HC Boys’ Lacrosse team has recently begun their 2025 season, and is looking to carry their momentum from last year into this season. In spring of 2024, the HC squad had a remarkable season, earning the runner-up title in the public school state championship. Although last year’s team lost many notable seniors, the team also has a strong returning group, and is looking to have another dominant season. While the Devils fell to Lexington Christian Academy by a score of 10-9 in an early season match, they are looking to start this year strong.
One of the largest questions surrounding this team is whether they will be able to adjust to the loss of many seniors from last season. Players that are not returning include Grady Brown, Oliver King, Grayson Pham, Connor Rode, Tucker Slone, Ty Warren Garretson, and leading scorer Jonah Brooking.
Despite their losses, the team still has a few notable returning players that are looking to make a leap. These players include Will Kite, Max Thayer, Griffin Kaylor, and Michael Rader.
The Blue Devils face a variety of teams across the state spanning from Cooper High School in Northern Kentucky early on in March, to Kentucky Country Day in Louisville to round out their season in March.
The team is six-time state champions and three-time runner-up, and is looking to bring another state title home for HC this season.
