On September 30, 2024, it was announced that Rupp Arena will be hosting the first and second rounds of the 2025 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Championship along with stadiums in Providence, Seattle, Wichita, Cleveland, Denver, Milwaukee, and Raleigh. The games at Rupp Arena will be on March 20th.
March Madness is a single-elimination tournament of 68 teams that compete in seven rounds for the national championship. The stages of the tournament are the first and second rounds, the Sweet 16, the Elite Eight, the Final Four and the title game. The first 32 out of 68 teams are chosen with automatic bids by winning each of the 32 postseason conference tournaments.
The teams playing in Lexington are No 7. Seed UCLA and No. 10 Seed Utah St. at 9:25 p.m. ET, as well as No. 2 Seed Tennessee and No. 15 Seed Wofford at 6:50 p.m. ET. Each winner will advance to the next round.
Tickets for both games at Rupp Arena start at $309 according to STUBHUB for up close seats and $48 according to TicketMaster for nosebleed seats. Rupp Arena offers a great atmosphere for watching sports. They have one of the largest stadiums in the NCAA holding 23,500 people, which allows for more fans and more energy.
Over the past weekend, UK was chosen as a No. 3 seed in the Midwest Region for the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The team will start tournament play facing Troy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Friday at 7:10 p.m. ET on CBS.
The University of Kentucky has won eight March Madness Championships so far. UK has had 61 appearances in March Madness starting in 1942. The team also has the second most wins in tournament history with 130 victories, and hopefully they will continue the tradition this year.
