On Tuesday, February 11th, HC faced one of their biggest rivals and walked away with one of the biggest upsets of the season. This game went into overtime and the final score was 83-72 with HC coming out with the win. Jackson Stephan led the way with 26 points with 14 rebounds for the junior class. It was the team’s fourth district win of the season.
The atmosphere in the gym was very different compared to other games. There were a lot more people and lots of crowd noises coming from both student sections. The environment was amazing and people showed love to the team.
“The atmosphere in the gym was crazy,” HC Senior player and manager Jaedon Bush said. “It was packed, there were a lot of crowd noises coming from both sides, and the environment was great.”
HC biggest challenge when they faced Douglas was getting a lot of fouls, and also not working as a team. Another problem HC faced was taking shots that were unnecessary.
“The biggest challenge we faced was communication,” Bush said. “We would get selfish and take shots that we weren’t supposed to take, and be fake teammates with each other.”
The win against Douglas changed the HC basketball mindset, making them more confident for when against other players, and overall as a team.
“I[This win helps by] boosting our team all around,” HC Senior center Hassan Bush said. “Making sure that we wanna win it all.”
HC plays Bryan Station on Wednesday, February 26th, at Scott County High School. It is the 42nd District Semi Final game, and with a win they will face off against Douglass in the district final on Friday, February 28th.
