HC Baseball held tryouts on February 10th, marking a start to their new season. In the month of February, they have been practicing and hosting youth camps to prepare for their first scrimmage on March 8th at GRC.
Last season the baseball team went 22-13 overall, and went 6-2 in districts and won the championship, being the 42nd district champions. This marked their 7th district championship.
The baseball team lost 12 seniors this season, including Luke Bailey, Walden Cole, Nore Day, Mason Draper, Giancarlco Gonzales, Rogers Kobes, Jayden Parsons, Chardy Tierney, Frederick Reucroft, Issac Rone, Riley Schneider, and Isaiah Stephens.
Seven of the 12 committed to play baseball in college. Rather than baseball, two of the other seniors committed to football and basketball.
The six seniors this season are Kade Highlander, Branden Caballero, Brandon Calvert, Caleb Mitchell, and Ian Rone.
The juniors continuing to play on varsity this season include Alex Elmadoler, Bryce Ferguson, Parker Mays, Garrett O’Donnell, Pherson Oepping, Turner Sparks, and Tucker Williams.
Their first game will be held on March 17th at Woodford County and their first home game will be held on March 24th against Dunbar. They will play a total of 28 games this season and will compete in the 42nd district tournament in May at Frederick Douglass.
