FCPS has been working on building The HILL for the past few years, but it is almost finished. The HILL, which stands for The Hub for Innovative Learning & Leadership, is going to be a new CTE school meant to combine Eastside and Southside. The HILL is located at 100 Midland Ave at the former Herald-Leader building.
FCPS has been releasing updates on Hill’s construction on their website since 2023. Their latest update was January 31, 2025, which stated, “there will be a partial shutdown, and at times a complete shutdown of Indiana for ongoing work by LFUCG, and there will also be a lane closure on Midland.” They also shared other details about the development of the school.
The HILL will include programs like “Engineering Technology, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Medical Sciences, Transportation Technology, and Pre-Nursing,” according to the Fayette County Public Schools website. The HILL will be finished by August of this year, allowing students to participate in it this upcoming school year.
FCPS is also working on other schools, including Harrison Preschool, Mary E. Britton Middle School, and Rise STEM Academy for Girls. If you would like more information about The HILL or any of these other schools, visit the FCPS website.
