With the new school year approaching, many changes are occurring, some within the building and others with scheduling. Every year, new electives are suggested by the teachers and put on the students’ schedule cards. However, the rules show that a class must have 25 students sign up, or it could be dropped.
The school decided to make pathways courses a requirement for students next year. New classes have been put into these cards, specifically in pathways, like Medical Terminology as dual credit, Unmanned Aircraft Systems, EDU 203 Professional Educator as dual credit, EDU 304 Clinical Experience as dual credit, Web Page Development, Computer Literacy as dual credit, Computational Thinking as dual credit, and Cybersecurity. A lot of the pathway options have been electives in the previous years, but are now also considered pathways.
A few non-pathway electives have been put on the cards, including Creative Writing, Science Fiction Fantasy Film, Forensic Science, Advanced Human Anatomy, Conditioning Men and Women, Women’s Studies, Advanced Sociology, Advanced History of Modern Media, AP Comparative Gov’t & Politics, Art Entrep. & Business, Computer Assisted Art 1 and 2, Hispanic Literature & Film, and World Cultures.
These diverse groups of electives help give incoming and current students a choice in pursuing their interests. All of these electives are broken into categories, such as Health & Physical Education, World Languages, Music, Arts, English/Language Arts Electives, Liberal Arts Academy, Math Electives, Science Electives, and Social Studies Electives.
