Swim and Dive at HC has been doing well in their meets, and has been excelling at a fast rate. Following last year’s success, the team thrives to remain competitive in their district. Ava Greinke talks about how far the team has gone and their impressive skills for the year.
“Last year we did really well at state,” Greinke said. ”We hope to do that this year.”
With recent success, also comes with high confidence for the upcoming season. But without practicing, they cannot get as far ahead.
“[Our practices] are like two hours long,“ Greinke said. “We practice seven time a week and twice before school”
With their constant practice and improvements in each member’s time, the Swim and Dive team has already had a number of team members make it to their state final.
“We did really well,“ Greinke said. “I think our girls got fourth and our guys got second [in city].”
With the team putting in all this effort, Greinke mentions how the hopes for this season are high.
“We hope we can have a large group make it to state,” Greinke said. “We have done very good this year [so far].”
Like many sports, making it to state requires skill and determination.
“You have to go to practice a lot to get good,” Greinke said. “It’s a big commitment to be good at swimming.”
As the season continues, HC expects more success from the Swim and Dive team as they continue to grow as a group. Make sure to visit their next meet on December 11th with HC facing off against Scott County High School and Great Crossing High School at the Georgetown Aquatic Center.
