Nia Henderson-Louis, the Student Council president, and Felicia Lindsay, the Student Council sponsor, helped continue the blood drive tradition at HC this year. Donating blood is a very important process that can save many lives. This encouraged many students to donate blood this fall.
“Donating blood is important because you can save a life. You never know when somebody needs blood,” said Lindsay. “I know that we had 79 donations. From 79 [donations] we got to save the lives of about 144 very grateful Kentucky patients.”
This blood drive was not only a great event for the student body, but for members of the Student Council as well.
“[HC has done this blood drive] for about ten years,” said Henderson-Louis. “It’s a way to actively give more blood to the community and to show that the Student Council actively participates within the school.”
The Student Council was excited to be given the chance to help save lives. Since this year’s blood drive was successful, the Student Council hopes to continue this event in the ongoing future.
“[It’s] amazing to share and to keep giving back,” said Lindsay. “And [when] presented that opportunity I think it’s a really great opportunity to give back.”
The Student Council has enjoyed giving this opportunity to the students and they are grateful to be given this chance. They will continue to provide HC with events that benefit the school and the community.
