HC Arts Night is quickly approaching and is being held on Thursday November 7th at HC in the front foyer from 5pm to 7pm. Keifer Shuler is in charge of Arts Night and has been in charge of planning it for the past few years.
“We’ve been talking about [Arts Night] for a few years and how to showcase everyone in the [art] department.” Shuler said. “This is one way to showcase all that talent that we have in the school that is easy to [participate in]. Students will see [the showcase] throughout the day and parents at night. So, it’s a good way to showcase all the talent at Henry Clay.”
A multitude of different types of art works will be displayed at the showcase including the HC theater department’s play, The Odd Couple.
“There’s going to be drawings, paintings, ceramics, and crocheting. The theater design class [will be able to] showcase the sets they have been designing [as well as the] costumes.” Shuler said. “That will lead up to the play that night. So [people] will be able to see all of the acting students. There will also be band performances and orchestra performances.”
Arts Night is an important way to advance the community and promote creativity in public schools. In HC alone there are hundreds of talented students who have this opportunity to showcase their talent.
“It’s a good way to see the talent that is walking around the hallways every single day that they don’t know about because all we have right now is this one showcase.” Shuler said. “It’s a centralized location for people to see the hundreds of art projects that have been made, all the performances, and the play.”
Arts Night is not only a great opportunity for artistically talented students but for the student body in general to support their peers and appreciate art.
