Halloween is coming quickly, and as it approaches, the Kentucky Theatre is showing many movies to get you into the spooky spirit.
“The Substance” will be showing on the 28th, 30th, and 31st of October. On the 28th, “The Substance” will be shown at 7:35pm and tickets will cost $8.96 for adults and $7.31 for seniors. On the 30th, it will be shown at 4:45pm for $7.31. Lastly, on the 31st, Halloween, it will be shown at 7:35pm and tickets will cost $8.96 for adults and $7.31 for seniors. “The Substance” is a rated R movie released this year, in 2024, about when “a fading celebrity (Demi Moore) decides to use a black market drug, a cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger, better version of herself.”
“Rumors” can be seen on the 28th through the 31st of October for $7.31 per ticket. It will be shown on the 28th at 5:20pm, on the 29th at 4:45pm, on the 30th at 1:40pm, and on Halloween, the 31st, at 5:20pm. “Rumors” is a R-rated movie that came out this year (2024), the movie is about “The seven leaders of the world’s wealthiest democracies at the annual G7 summit, where they attempt to draft a provisional statement regarding a global crisis. With unexpected, uproarious performances from a brilliant ensemble cast that includes Cate Blanchett, Alicia Vikander, and Charles Dance, these so-called leaders become spectacles of incompetence, contending with increasingly surreal obstacles in the misty woods as night falls and they realize they are suddenly alone. A genre-hopping satire of political ineptitude, the latest film from incomparable directors Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson and Galen Johnson is a journey into the absurd heart of power and institutional failure in a slowly burning world.”
“Conclave” will be showing on the 28th through the 31st for $7.31. On the 30th, it can be seen at 12:40pm, 3:00pm, 5:15pm, and 7:40pm. On the 28th, 29th, and 31st, it can be watched at 5:15pm, and 7:40pm. The movie is rated PG and came out this year (2024). According to the Kentucky Theatre, “Conclave” is about how “after the unexpected death of the Pope, Cardinal Lawrence is tasked with managing the covert and ancient ritual of electing a new one. Sequestered in the Vatican with the Catholic Church’s most powerful leaders until the process is complete, Lawrence finds himself at the center of a conspiracy that could lead to its downfall.”
“Jennifer’s Body” will be showing on Halloween, October 31st at 10:00pm. Tickets will be sold for $6.50. The movie originally came out in 2009 and is rated R. The movie is about “when a demon takes possession of her, high-school hottie Jennifer (Megan Fox) turns a hungry eye on guys who never stood a chance with her before. While evil Jennifer satisfies her appetite for human flesh with the school’s male population, her nerdy friend, Needy (Amanda Seyfried), learns what’s happening and vows to put an end to the carnage.”
“Strait-Jacket” will be showing on October the 30th at 7:30pm for $6.50. This movie originally came out 1964, meaning it’s almost 60 years old. There is no rating for the “Strait-Jacket”, since ratings didn’t come out until 1968. The movie is about how “convicted axe-murderess Lucy Harbin (Joan Crawford) is released from the asylum where she was sent 20 years ago for slaying her unfaithful husband. Lucy goes to stay at her brother’s farm and reconnect with her grown daughter, Carol (Diane Baker), who saw her mother chop her father to pieces as a tot. Carol helps Lucy regain her old glamorous look — but suspects that history might be repeating itself when anyone who angers her mother turns up hacked to death.”
On October 29th, “Sunset Boulevard” will be shown at 7:15pm for $6.50. The movie originally came out in 1950, meaning that, again, it has no rating due to the fact that ratings didn’t come out until 1968. “Sunset Boulevard” is about when “an aging silent film queen (Gloria Swanson) refuses to accept that her stardom has ended. She hires a young hack screenwriter (William Holden) to help set up her movie comeback. The screenwriter believes he can manipulate her, but he soon finds out he is wrong. The screenwriters ambivalence about their relationship and her unwillingness to let go leads to a situation of violence, madness, and death.”
