HC has been going through board meetings every month for the past year, deciding and planning on the upcoming construction of the school. The school board plans on spending around $152 billion dollars on this reconstruction. But despite the efficient planning, there is one issue they don’t seem to consider.
With a full new construction of HC, issues arise with upcoming changing schedules and even sports for the next few years. One of the main projects is the full reconstruction of the school. This project is predicted by the school board to be due in the year 2028. For this to happen, they must start taking down the school at some point.
With speculation, many have said that the district will take down the sports fields first and start constructing the future school in their replacement. How would this affect the student athletes? Do they have sufficient plans on their futures as possible professional athletes? Many viewers and players do not have rides available for them to get to games, and if they can never have home games, what good does that do the team? This option seems viable but a new building can not be obtained within a summer.
Along with the sports question, HC plans on changing the traditional six period schedule to a new and expanded block schedule. With a new schedule change, will it start affecting students who have classes in the portables? If construction is happening during the day wont it distract students who are trying to learn? With the class changes happening so soon, construction brings way too many changes for students who have been attending the school prior to the changes.
The manner in which the board plans on scheduling the construction seems unattainable and is inefficient for the students. Although the conditions of the school’s current state could be labeled as “horrendous” or “disgusting,” it’s still more effective than being in a construction site.
